I see a lot of really great art in my travels. The very expression of a person's thoughts and emotions, displayed for a world to see. At the same time, I see a lot of people, posing as artists, using editing features and cgi renderings.. Sure it looks cool, but where is the real talent in that, and would they be able to render it without this new tech.. I can't say, but I still do 90% of my work with pencil in hand.. That personal touch is the true way to express the talent..
Does not mean these ones who use editing tools are not artists.. No, but it means, they are becoming complacent artists.. Truth is its a new age; people are using tools that help them in every aspect of life. Yes, they are thinking less, and working less.. In my honest opinion, unless a person can draw, they are not true artists.. Using new technology is fine, so long as the artist does the work behind it.
It seems that many things in life have become nothing more than 'flash and bang'.. We want it now.. And we could care less about it tomorrow, because it is easily replaced by the next thing that comes along..
Another thing that we, as artists, appreciate the interest in art to let others express themselves. A true artist never ridicules another artist for their expression. If one thinks they are too good for the 10 year old who wants to be able to draw Batman one day, then they should exit stage left as an artist. Being an artist is about appreciation.
Now, as Stan Lee would say, 'Nuff said..'
